Gibson Guitar Rocks Japanese Market

Well, the Japanese have to spend their money on something. Gibson Guitars seems to be one of the hot products among music lovers.

I read about a 19 year old Japanese kid who admitted to not having time to play his guitar yet paid $5,400 for a Gibson guitar. If my 19-year old paid that much for a guitar, I’d ask him to pay his college tuition.

An American master craftsman made a replica of a 1960 Les Paul Special, complete with aging cracked paint and tiny dents. The guitar is sold only in Japan. They guitar is sold OUT in Japan.

Despite having its own guitar makers – Yamaha, Iban, American made guitars are the winners in number of sales. Gibson guitars is one of the few export successes in Japan. The US sure can’t beat them in cars.

Gibson has turned its sights on other countries – China for one.

Gibson says foreign markets tend to revere the Gibson brand more so than the domestic market does.

I don’t know enough about music to believe this, but some say rock wouldn’t even exist without Gibson guitars. The Beatles played them. Led Zeplin played them. Eric Clapton played one.

No matter. Japan loves Gibson guitars and Gibson guitar, to be sure, loves Japan.
