Fujiya Sweets Uses Expired Milk – arm cut off

Posted by Bill Belew on January 13th, 2007 in Japan | No Comments

Supermarkets in Japan are going bonkers trying to remove sweets made by Fujiya off their shelves.

The confectioner admitted that it used expired milk in its cream puffs. (Those cream puffs are darn good, too.)

Bigger problem…the cream puffs had already been shipped.

Tokyu Store Chain, Keio Store and Keikyu have removed all Fujiya products from their stores even though NONE of them sell cream puffs.fujiya.jpg

Typical Japanese response… a wart on the baby finger…cut off the arm.

None of the three companies will resume selling Fujiya products until they are sure the safety of the products is confirmed.

Fujiya says none of their chocolate, candy or other sweets have quality control products. What's more, they are made at different factories.

The supermarkets say they are taking the step because they suspect Fujiya of poor management.

Fujiya will be sucking up this mistake for a long time.

what do you think?
