Fujiya Sweets Prez Resorts to ‘Hara-kiri’
Well, he didn't exactly cut himself open…that would be too drastic. But the Fujiya president did resign from his post to take responsibility for the confectioner company using expired milk to make cream puffs.
It was discovered that on 18 different occasions milk and other ingredients were used AFTER their expiration date over the past seven years.
And, in two cases the action was authorized by supervisors at their plant in Saitama, just outside Tokyo.
The bad food is not only the cream puffs, but also puddings.
The current president is the sixth Fujii to run the family owned company that was formed in 1910.
It may be time for them to look outside of the family to find someone to run the company with the appropriate ethical standards.
What do you think?
