Fujiya Gets Blasted by Government

Fujiya is in hot water with the Japanese government now, also.

Senior officials rebuked the company president for using out-of-date ingredients and for not providing appropriate data to local government inspectors.

Let's see, if they knew they were using out-of-date ingredients, does anybody seriously think they would report it?

Fujiya is being investigated for violation of food sanitation laws and the Japanese agriculture standard law.fujiya.chocolate.jpg

In the wake of this scandal Fujiya is admitting, 12 years after the fact, that it failed to publicize a food poisoning incident caused by one of its products in 1995.

Nine people reported symptoms of food poisoning after eating a Fujiya product.

I reckon I wouldn't have publicized that incident either.

Sapporo Beverage Co. is pulling Fujiya beverage products from vending machines nationwide and is considering cancelling its sales contract with Fujiya.

Fujiya countered with – cakes and beverage products available at retail stores OTHER THAN Fujiya cakes shops are safe.

Somehow, that statement doesn't ring of confidence.

Fujiya will be a long time coming in recovering from this scandal…IF ever.

What do you think?
