Fuel Cell Cars Take 7 Steps Closer to Reality
Honda Motor Co test drove its latest prototype fuel cell car at a professional race track in Japan.
We might be a dozen or so years away from having this new gas guzzling alternative to a fictitious global warming.
1. The vehicle no longer shakes when it is started up.
2. The motor sits under the floor for great ride and little air resistance
3. The motor directly drives the wheels of the car.
4. Initial acceleration outperforms gas engines
5. The car will go 570 km (340 miles) before needing to be refueled.
6. Technical problems out of the way…the next step is mass-production technology.
7. By 2020 …prices will be equal to gas engine cars.
One not so insurmountable step yet to be taken is building the infrastructure to provide for refueling.
At least my kids will get to enjoy this new car.
What do you think of fuel cell cars?
