FTC Warns Japan’s Softbank Mobile
Japan's Fair Trade Commission has warned the number three cell-phone service provider, Softbank Mobile, over ads they (FTC) are saying is misleading.
NTT DoCoMo and KDDI are expected to receive cautions for the same.
The FTC said, "many advertising blurbs are simply too complicated to understand."
Are they talking about Japan or the US?![]()
I've been using a cell-phone in the US for several years, and I STILL don't know how the plan works.
The FTC also said, "the ads in question could mislead consumers because explanations about such conditions and exceptions were represented in small print and in an obscure manner."
Uh, ditto in the U.S.
Why can't businesses everywhere be transparent? Why the need for shadiness?
Can't we all just offer a good service, pay a fair price and compete on a level playing field?
What do you think?
