Ford Motors Steals Toyota Marketing Executive – Jim Farley
Ford Motor Co. has stolen one of Toyota Motor Corp's top sales and marketing stars.
Jim Farley is one of the architects of Toyota's successful foray into America's youth market – the Scion.
Ford is desperate to reverse the trend of losing its market share to Japanese carmakers and the company thinks the 45-year old steal from Toyota will help out.
In the first nine months of this year, Ford sales are down – 1.98 million units to 2.29 million last year.
Ford made a profit but only because of cost reductions.
Ford spends $2 billion each year on advertising.
Ford….GM….Chrysler….have each scarfed a Toyota exec now…as if taking something from Toyota will make the difference.
It does make a difference – build a car that is top quality, economical and priced right, and America will buy it.
That's the answer.
What do you think?
