Oribe Seiki Seisakusho is Japan’s prime fallout shelter maker. They guarantee that their shelters will withstand a nuclear explosion.

And, thanks to Kim, business is booming, pun intended.

Corporations and individuals alike are swamping the Kobe-based company with inquiries and orders for its shelters.fallout shelter.jpg

Normal business is 8 shelters a year. The company received 10 orders within four days of North Korea’s proclaimed nuke test.

Get this – the shelters are guaranteed to:

1. withstand up to 1,200 degrees celsius

2. shut out radiation and other harmful substances

3. withstand the force of a nuclear explosion about the size of the bomb dropped on Hiroshima

A 4-5 person shelter costs about 15,000,000 yen ($130,000).

The air filter systems are sold separately for 400,000 yen ($3,400).

The company was founded in 1963.

Okay – question. If the shelters prove to be faulty, how will the users collect on the warranty?

What do you think?
