The company has stated that the blast which took place on the tanker, M.Star, has caused one minor injury but there is no suspected oil leak.
The company states, that the explosion on the tanker is an attack from the outside. The incident occurred in the Strait Of Hormuz, which a strategically important area. This strait is the most important strait to the oil importing countries, as 40% of oil exported to world passes through this strait.
The Mitsui said that it is probably an attack, because the explosion occurred on the ship where there is no explosive substance. Japan is not immediately putting the explosion as an attack, but rather said that there is a possibility. The tanker was loaded with 270000 tones of oil and was heading to Japan from the Das Island in UAE.
