Excite, Skype Team Up

Web portal, Excite Japan and Internet phone company Skype Technologies have formed a team.

The two have a joint web site within Excite Japan's portal to distribute co-branded online communications software.

Skype's basic functions are more accessible and Excite Japan's search engine, news and other services are more easily accessed.

Skype's online video, Send Money is also included.

Excite Japan will support Skype users in Japan.

There are 5 million Skype users in Japan. 

Excite and Skype want to double that number.

Skype's partnership with Livedoor, formed in 2004, ended the day before Excite Japan and Skype announced their business tie-up.
