Disgraced Yokozuna, Asashoryu, Back in Japan for Thanksgiving

Disgraced Yokozuna, Asashoryu, will be back in Japan by Thanksgiving…IF…Japan had a Thanksgiving.

November 23rd is the date, AFTER the fall tournament and AFTER his suspension from two bashos is finished.

Asashoryu was suspended for skipping a summer tour because he was 'hurt.' But then was found to be playing soccer at home in Inner Mongolia.

He will be expected to bow and scrape after he returns.

He will visit the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology to say he is sorry and the grave of stablemaster Sadogatake (former sumo Yokozuna Kotozakura) who died during Asashoryu's suspension period to say nothing.

Asashoryu will be expected to say even more once he gets back in the ring.

And I suspect he will have a lot to say come January, the first tourney he will be able to participate in.

Are you a sumo fan?
