Death Penalty Appeal Dismissed
Still alive after all these years.
More than 12 year ago Aum Shinrikyo cult members consipired to spray sarin gas on trains in three Tokyo subway lines. March 20, 1995 to be exact.
12 people were killed and thousands of others were injured.
One fellow, Masto Yokoyama, was assigned to the Marunouchi line. Though he sprayed the lethal gas, nobody was killed and four people were injured.
Still…he got the death penalty.
The judge said, "It was an incredibly anti-social crime that indiscriminately targeted ordinary citizens."
When defense pointed out that nobody was killed,
the judge responded "the death penalty is unavoidable even considering that nobody was killed."
What I want to know is why does it take so long for people on death row to be taken off death row?
Why are these guys still alive?
