The kissaten (coffee shop) is an icon in Japan. Japanese love their coffee, especially since Starbucks introduced the coffee craze in 1996.

Doutor Coffee is the largest chain in Japan with 1,479 outlets.

McDonald's sold 120 million cups of the brown juice in 2007.
