Christmas Tree Hotel to be Dismantled, Moved

A 26-story, 83-room Tokyo Hotel built during Japan's bubble era is said to resemble a Christmas tree.

But, the 100,000 yen a night rooms are not booking like they used to.

What to do?

Plans are in the works to take the building apart, dismantle it, and move it someplace else!tokyo.hotel.jpg

The owners hope that by moving it to a new location, they can expand its capacity.

No one is saying what will be placed on the site after its removal.

Can it really be cost effective to take a building apart…transport it to a new location…put it back together and then build something else in its own location?

I can't imagine.

What do you think?
