Chopstick Fight! – Japan vs. China

China does everything more cheaply….including making chopsticks. More than 90% of the disposable chopsticks in Japan are made in China.

Japan's Nakamoto Seicho KK is wants to change that and is fighting back.

The company has developed a technology to mass-produce chopsticks from surplus domestic cedar that can compete in price with the inexpensive Chinese-made chopsticks.

Nakamoto Seicho owns the only mass production chopstick plant in Japan, capable of producing 150 million set every year.

Until now, the company has used only pine trees grown in northern Hokkaido and Russia.

I think this is great. The real test will be in the cost.

However, instead of crying 'foul,' and 'exchange rates are unfair' Japan sets out to make things more efficiently and cheaply.

The way to beat China in manufacturing is to produce things of equal or better quality at a price that is competitive.

what do you think?

Question: How do Japanese and Chinese go on a diet?

Answer: They use only one chopstick.
