California Wildfires Shut Down Sony, Kyocera in San Diego County
The California wildfires have forced at least two Japanese companies, Sony Electronics Inc., and Kyocera Corp, both based in San Diego County to shut down.
Sony has 2,000 employees that build "Vaio" PCs customized to order.
Kyocera has 500 workers on manufacturing lines of semiconductor parts.
Workers at the two enterprises live in the area of the wildfires and cannot get to work or just have to flea for safety.
The factories remain unharmed ….for now.
So far,
1. half a million people have been evacuated,
2. 1,300 buildings have been destroyed and
3. 412,000 acres have been scorched.
And nobody at the San Diego County factory cares whether or not Sony will meet their bottom line this quarter.
Some things are indeed more important than getting to work each day, no?
