Cabinet Ministers Opt to NOT Visit Yasukuni Shrine

Yasukuni Shrine is the place where Japan's war dead, including Class-A war criminals are enshrined.

Every year…every every year on/around Aug. 15th, Japanese leaders visit the shring to pay respects, much to the chagrin of Korea and China who suffered at the hands of those war dead.

The visits threaten relationships, cause trips and plans to be cancelled

and objections to be raised from around East Asia…and perhaps rightfully so.yasukuni.shrine.jpg

This year, none of the 16 cabinet members of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe are expected to visit the shrine.

Only Abe has not said clearly what he will or will not do.

The ruling coalition has been asking for Cabinet Ministers to stay home. A motion was passed/defeated to that affect on July 29th.

PM Abe?! Stay home. It's not worth all the fuss.

Besides it would be interesting to note what China and Korea will have to say if nobody goes for a change, no?
