Breakdown of Japan’s household expenditures

According to the the ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications the average Japanese household brings in about 530,000 yen ($48,000).

So, where does all the money go?

1. Food – 17.3%

2. Social Insurance premium – 11.5%

3. Transportation – 11.4%

5, Culture and entertaiment – 8.1%

6. Fuel, electricity, water – 5%

7. Education – 4.7%

8. Clothing and footwear – 3.6%

9. Health and medical costs – 2.8%

10. Furniture and household utensils – 2.55

11. Other – 19.1%
