Baby Hatch deemed legal

A hospital in southern Japan wants to set up a baby hatch.

A baby hatch is a place where infants can be left anonymously for any reason. Kind of like a UPS drop box.

Opponents say that some parents will be more encouraged to abandon their kids.

The hospital is saying the drop box is for emergency use only and a similar program is already working in Germany.

It doesn't seem to me to be a problem. If two parents even considered for a moment that they might give up their infant, then give the baby to someone who would never consider such a thing.

Doubt? A little bit? Even a very little bit? Never! Absolutely NEVER!

I think the drop box will save lives.
