‘Astro Boy’ to be Reproduced in Color – PM Taro Aso delighted!

Anime and manga fan Taro Aso is not the new Prime Minister of Japan…yet.

Should he get the job…his first priority will be to see that Tezuka Production Co. follows through on its pledge to colorize some 150,000 pages of black-and-white "Astro Boy" comics….or not…depending on whether Aso is a purist or not.

Being Japanese…we might not know what he thinks until …well, we might not ever know.

The color will be added at a studio in Beijing.

Osamu Tezuka added color to a few title pages before his death in 1989, but this is the first time for all of his works to get the crayon.

At 1,000 pages a month…it will take about 5 years to complete the project.

Even with all those people in China…it takes a long time to do something 150,000 times, eh?

The colored pieces can be downloaded to cellphones.

Oh boy!!

"Astro Boy," "Black Jack," "Jungle Emperor Leo," "The Phoenix," "Princess Knight" and "Dororo." at 80 yen each!

Who's your favorite anime character?
