Asashoryu is NOT a Futabayama, Taiho, a Japanese

Call it a sign of the times. For whatever reason, people are more pampered these days, expect better, quicker, easier, more ….even in the Sumo world.

Futabayama won 69 consecutive bouts before losing three in a row. He admitted only then that he was not a "mokkei" – a wooden rooster, so completely in control that he looked like a wooden statue.

Taiho has won the most tournaments of any Japanese wrestler. He was the epitomy of spriit, technique,

Asashoryu doesn't want to participate in regional roundabouts; wants to play soccer; is embattled in match fixing accusations; is depressed.

He is better than his contemporaries. He iwins. But, he does NOT have the Japanese spirit, the sumo spirit to be considered among the best….not even close.

What do you think?
