The Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) is for fighting the proliferation of counterfeit goods and pirated movies and music.

The first rounds of negotiations will be held in Geneva, Switzerland in December with hopes of coming to some sort of international agreement by next summer…

The participating countries –

the European Union members

Switzerland

New Zealand

Mexico

South Koreaanti-counterfeit.jpg

Japan

the United States

The targeted countries –

Russia…China

Signatories will ban exports of illegally produced goods AND rid the country of machinery that can make such products….good luck on this one.

Japan's Foreign Ministry says the industry loses some $200 billion each year because of pirated goods.

Have you ever purchased a pirated product?
