The Japanese Foreign Ministry conducted a survey.

A record high three in four members of the general public in the United States say that Japan is a 'dependable' country.

Record highs were also recorded in four major European countries (Britain, France, Germany and Italy.)

The survey, conducted every year since 1960, found just 60% of Americans thinking Japan was a good friend and ally last year.

US opinion leaders think Japan can be trusted to the tune of 91%!japan.eu.jpg

Bilateral relations are good – 67% up from 63% – General public and 86% by opionion leaders.

48% of respondents think Japan is the United

States' most important partner in Asia.

China was second at 34%.

Opinion leaders think that Japan should become a permanent member of the security counsel (52%) and 42% thinking not so.

Britain, France, Germany and Italy think the United States and China are their most important partners….with Japan a far distant third.
