7 Ways to Make Convenience Stores More Senior-Friendly

Seniors are becoming an increasingly more important demographic in Japan.

Convenience stores are a part of the Japanese culture….Seven-Eleven, Family Mart, Lawsons…and so on.

Steps are being taken to make the stores more senior friendly.

1. Larger price tags…that must mean I am a senior. I'd like to see that happen here in the states.

2. Lighter shopping carts7%2011%20japan.jpg

3. Lower counters for customers in wheelchairs

4. Reshuffling product lineup – more denture adhesive, reading classes and adult diapers?

5. Stronger shopping carts that can act as a wheeler

6. Wider aisles

7. Lower shelves

Japan cares for its elderly. Asia cares for its elderly. Perhaps the entire world cares more for family than is evident in America.

Even the quick-in and quick-out stores will slow things down a bit so the old folks can shop there.

Why doesn't the west, America, care as much for their aged, I wonder?
