62% Want Tokyo to Host 2016 Olympics

Nearly two in three Tokyoites would like to have the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2016.

One in four were against it. 

The other 13% were singing karaoke and couldn't be bothered.

A bid will be submitted to the International Olympic Committee next month.

Why –

75% cited economic benefits

49% wanted a look at the world's best athletes

43% wanted to see Japan's best up close.

Of those against it, they see more pressing social problems (77%), a waste of taxpayer's money (65%) and too expensive (64%).

Just 8 years after the Olympics being held in Asia, I don't see it happening.
