4 Reasons why Tokyo Transport Needs/Gets All-in-one Travel Card
You can go anywhere in Tokyo by train. In fact you get there quite a few different ways over several different train lines.
Problem WAS, you had to buy a ticket for the train line you were on, or transferred to. Not anymore.
Tokyo now has a computer chip-embedded travel card, Pasimo, that are compatible with more than 100 train and bus lines.
This is good news, make that great news for commuters:![]()
1. Greater Tokyo has the largest conglomeration in the world – 35 million plus people…more than Canada!
2. In 2005 Tokyo trains carried 14 billion people…on time…except for the occasional suicide that disrupted the service.
3. Shinjuku is the world's busiest terminal with 3.5 million passengers daily!
4. Additionally, the commuters can lose track of how much money they have racked up in their travels by using the Pasimo card to buy munchies at convenience stores and automatic vending machines.
Now if the cards can be used to get commuters on trains without being squished and groped they'd really have something.
How about an all-in-one card that does everything?
