#32 The Japan-related Web: The Future. JapanSoc

I have saved the best for last. The Japan-related web has needed its own social bookmarking site (think Digg.com) for sometime now, and JapanSoc is stepping up to fill that need. Let's look at how JapanSoc's features could help build a vibrant Japan-blogging community.

#1 JapanSoc lets users submit articles but at the same time has an upcoming section that acts like quality control. The articles can only go to the front page if someone else votes for them. It's user generated but not out of control. That equals a good read.

#2 The community of users vote for the articles they like, comment, and see who submitted or voted for what. So there is a lot of interaction.

#3 Submissions send a trackback to the site the article is from so even if they are not the submitter they find out about JapanSoc (automatic promotion).

#4 There is a feedflare that adds "JapanSoc It" to the bottom of your posts to make it even easier to submit articles.

What can JapanSoc do for Japan-related bloggers/webmasters? The possibilities are intriguing. Small and large sites alike can have the same opportunity to get exposure and traffic. Also a website like JapanSoc can be a hub of current topics and events going on in the Japan blogosphere. I have communicated quite a bit with Nick about the project and I think this project will succeed because I see the effort Nick puts into  soliciting and listening to feedback from the users. He is going to need more feedback going forward and has asked for your opinions about the site.

I hope everyone will support JapanSoc, the J-web needs its own digg.com
