#21 The Japan-related Web. Part 1: What it could be

Submitted by Bill Belew on Friday, 25 January 2008No Comment

Today we are going to discuss our last form of collaboration:

starting or contributing to projects.

Possibly the grandfather of all Japan-related projects on the web is [Jim Breen's WWWJDIC](Japanese-English Dictionary).

How many of you have used Jim Breen's dictionary?

How happy are you that it exists?

It would not exist without the help of many contributors.

Thomas from NihonHacks.com is helping Nick with JapanSoc.com (Digg for Japan-related news).

And look, now he is being mentioned!

If you contributed to a project maybe someone would talk about you too! Another good example is Turner from KeepingPaceInJapan. Turner is [contributing to the Re-Entry Japan project] <>, a project that discusses the fingerprinting of foreigners. Currently I am working on a project called [Japanopedia.org], but more on that later.

What projects interest you?

Well, those are the forms of collaboration I could come up with, can you think of others?
