# 15 The Japan-Related Web – What it could be.

Posted by Bill Belew on January 19th, 2008 in Japan | Comments Off

Yesterday we talked about helping others (the most selfish thing you can do) and encouraging them to do the same.

Today we will analyze what may be the most important element in helping others: connections.

I am not talking about "knowing the right people," I am talking about common ties between websites.

As the regulars and past interviewees on DailyJ know, finding connections between sites is one of my favorite things.

Each connection (for example, a common interest) is a "point of collaboration." [RockingInHakata translates jokes into Japanese] and [JapanNewbie translates funny Japanese ads] .

That is a point of collaboration. Maybe they can comment on each other'snipponster.gif translations, or do a project together, or help each other with the translating. Maybe they can promote each other's work or work together on a translation project on another site.

See how many possibilities arise from a simple connection? As a "[catalyst] " I hope to "bond" bloggers together using these types of connections, and you can too.

What connections do you see on the J-web?

How can you act like a catalyst too?
