$137-$202 for a square watermelon!?
I think I will take mine round at $3/lb instead of dice-shaped with a ribbon for $137-$202 a pop.
A local agricultural coop in Zentsuji, Japan grew 80 cubed watermelons that will be shipped to the big city – Tokyo and Osaka where somebody with too much money will buy them and cut them up into smaller cubes or probably triangles.
Some math whiz can probably tell me what shapes will come out if you cut into the middle like you would a normal watermelon.
I guess the only thing worse than charging someone $200 to cut something up and share with a dozen people to get eaten in 15-20 minutes is that someone will pay
that much to do it.
It sure seems like a waste to me.
What's the most money you ever spent on
food that after eating you didn't feel like you got your money's worth?
I think it's a small French restaurant in Saratoga that my wife and I will never go to again.
