12 reasons why Latinos have hard time blending in in Japan
Brazil has more native Japanese than any other country in the world other than Japan.
Because there are so many Japanese in Brazil, Japanese law entitles them to come to Japan as guest workers.
However, just because someone walks into a garage, it doesn't make him a car.
The Latinos stand out in Japan -
2. booming voices
3. backslapping manners
4. shirts off
5. bellies out
6. ignoring rules on recycling
7. not paying taxes
8. creating conflicts with Japanese classmates
9. unable to communicate with police….ah…there it is
10. Unable to communicate because they don't know or even make the effort to learn Japanese.
11. Noisy
12. Lazy
Are all Latinos this way? Of course, not. But, this is the reputation they have when they come to Japan, due largely to those who have gone on before.
The Japanese have a saying – the nail that sticks out gets hammered down. When its a different color and doesn't know the hammer is coming, it gets hit much harder.
Problem is…Japan needs these foreign workers.
Question is…just how much is Japan willing to put up with to accomodate them.
What do you think?
