#10 The Japan-related Web. Part 1: What it is

Posted by Bill Belew on January 14th, 2008 in Japan | No Comments

Yesterday we explored the category of personal experiences on the J-web.

Today we are going to jump into our sixth category: classifieds.

Classifieds can cover a wide range of topics. There are several print magazines that have online versions including topics like:

1. sayonara sales/for-sale items,

2. wanted items,

3. services,

nipponster.gif

4. job listings,

5. personals.

Some of the major sites that come to mind are Metropolis, Gaijinpot, and Jref Classifieds.

Have you used these sites?

What do you think of them?

Can you think of some others?

What are your favourites?

I personally like Metropolis because it is online and offline, so it has a wide audience. It seems that when it comes to classifieds the wider the audience the more effective the listings will be. I put a wanted ad in Metropolis and received about a dozen replies in the first few days.

What has your experience been?

I just found an online classifieds site for Kansai. Have you Kansai people heard of it before?
It’s called Kansai Flea Market Online
