Toyota Raises Sales Target in China

Based on the first 10 months, Toyota Motor Corp thinks it can do 11% better than intial estimates for the year.

The previous goal was 430,000 cars. The goal has been upped to 480,000.

Sales for the year are already up 67% over last year much higher than the country-wide 24% growth.

Toyota thinks it can top 700,000 units in China next year.

China's market leaders are GM (1 million) and VW (900,000) unit sales this year.

Toyota's goal is 10% of the Chinese market by 2010.

Chances are that goal will be moved up soon as well.

Working with FAW Corp and Guangzhou Automobile Corp, Toyota annual production in China is now at 640,000.

Do you think Toyota can outsell GM and VW in China?
