China may be the world's factory, but India keeps the world wired….and answers the phones while they do it.

IT firms from around the world are setting up shop – software development bases – in India.

It doesn't take a mental giant to figure out that India needs PCs to work from.

Toshiba Corp will become Japan's first computer maker to gear up for increased computer sales in India.toshiba.india.jpg

Toshiba plans to work with its Indian subsidiary to set up a sales division this fall.

The aim – to sell six times as many PCs over the next

three years as it does now – totaling 600,000 units.

Toshiba will provide support (handle sales, marketing) but locals will make up the staff.

So, why haven't other PC firms started ramping up sales and services in India?
