IPL Could Soon Mean International Premier League

Let us get one thing sorted out — the IPL is an abbreviation for the Indian Premier League.

Therefore, its identity was supposed to be its connection with the Indian mainland, its people and its domestic cricket system.

However, the way things are going, it could soon be a case of international players being preferred over Indian players who are bound to find it difficult to adjust to foreign playing conditions.

This was already evident on day one of the IPL2009.

This problem has been created by the shifting of IPL outside of India, which in itself makes the entire concept of this being an Indian league rather vague.
