India’s Reliance  (RIL) and IMG, the world’s leading sports marketing and Management Company have announced joint venture to develop market and manage sports and entertainment in India.

The venture, IMG Reliance Pvt. Ltd., will have parallel complementary strategies: to provide and operate world class infrastructure and coaching facilities in the country to unlock India’s sporting potential and; to create and operate major sports and entertainment assets in the country.

The joint venture will develop new sports and entertainment assets in India modeled on the sporting, commercial and investment structures of such assets in mature sports and entertainment market places.

There are at least two kinds of writers— those who write for writing’s sake and those who write to be read. I am of the second kind.

There are at least two kinds of writers who write to be read—those who do it for the fun of it and those who would like to make some money doing the writing thing which would include those who have written a book or two and want to get the word out. Again, I am of the second kind.

Reason 1: Blogging pays my mortgage. I earn enough from my blogs to pay my sizable Silicon Valley Mortgage. And I have had a book of my blog material published to boot. It is estimated that there are more than 77 million blogs.

The general wisdom is that if there are that many, some of them have to be good. Why shouldn’t mine be one of the good ones? Why shouldn’t yours?

Blog is a contraction for the term “web log.” Frankly, the name is not very attractive. It sounds too much like blah, blah, blahg. I prefer to explain what I do: I keep content current and focused on one topic on an interactive website, in a log format presented in reverse chronological order.

Samsung will begin shipping TVs with Skype software in the Korean market, and worldwide in the first half of 2010. The LED 7000 and 8000 series televisions include Samsung’s free Internet@TV service, which allows access to select online content. Consumers who connect the TVs to the Internet can attach a FreeTrial TV Camera for Samsung provided by In Store Solutions (ISS), available at http://www.skype.com/store, making it possible to place and receive voice calls and video calls. Voice calls will use Skype’s SILK audio codec.

Using the TVs’ remote controls, consumers can create free Skype accounts, log into their existing accounts and navigate via a Skype interface accessible on the televisions’ screens. Skype video calls will be free, as will voice calls between Skype users.
