Riyo Mori is in the hot seat with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) because she wears fur….she is promoting cruelty.

“As Miss Universe, you are expected to be a positive role model who sets a good example,” PETA said in a letter to Mori. “Prove that your beauty is more than skin deep.”

“By choosing to wear fur, not only are you directly responsible for the deaths of dozens of animals, you’re also sending a clear message to everyone who sees you that animals’ lives are less important than fashion.”

PETA also sent some links to Mori to gross her out.

As much of an activist I am NOT, I would go with PETA on this one.

Students of mine showed me some of the links in a presentation.

After watching them I wanted to strip down naked and wear nothing…think dog and cat farms in China…that sort of thing.

It is a peninsula to the south and east of Osaka. Wakayama prefecture is the main prefecture and Tanabe city is the biggest city.

The ancient Kumano Kodo pilgrimage trails in the area gained UNESCO World Heritage status in 2004.

But these days it is Kidokoro Keiji that brings in business for the Kinki people.

Kidokoro won this year’s World Chainsaw Massacre…er…World Chainsaw Art Competition which was hosted in his home country of Japan.

The guy starts with a 220 lb log and hacks away at it till he has a bear or a lion or a bird or even a wooden chainsaw left.

No matter…what the Kinki people care about is the business their favorite Kinki man brings to the area.

Do you suppose taking a chainsaw on a date would qualify as being kinky?

While the man took a shower, his new wife played with his cell phone…only to discover a porn image that his friend had sent him.

Hopefully, it wasn’t her.

“You have a picture of your wife naked?”

When the 28-year newly married woman asked her husband about it, he got angry…they fought…and he strangled her to death…with a cell phone cord.

Wait…cell phones don’t have cords.

Later the Japanese fellow told a friend who then told the police.

“Look out! I am going to defame you with my cell phone!”

“If cell phones are used incorrectly, they can become weapons,”  says an education board dude.

Cell phone blogs have become another source of funk, depression, for students in Japan…another reason to skip school maybe.

A junior high school girl posted defamatory comments on a cell phone blog which resulted in a 15-year old boy classmate going into a funk and missing school and whining to his mother and getting the police involved and…

The girls told the new student (boy) he was – “stupid” and “a facial lethal

weapon.”

When the boy posted the attacks by the girls on his blog, the girls threatened to force him to pay Y1.5 million….that would be more interesting to watch, I think.

The boy’s mom had to step in and contacted the school.

The girls finally apologized after the police also got involved.

Japan has problems with suicides…even in schools… Matters are not to be taken likely.

People used to call me names. And when I whined to my father, he responded with the ditty – Sticks and stones wil break my bones but names will never hurt me.”

It seems to me the kid could use some thicker skin, no?

“Well, if I yelled chocolate when I fell into the chocolate, nobody would come rescue me?”

These people not only fell into chocolate, they jumped in, stayed in, bathed in it, played in it and tried to throw other people out of it so they could remain in it.

China chooses mature girls/women, asks them to leave their clothes ON and then popularizes them based on ability, not just appearance….usually.

Japan’s quality is low. The girls (not women) are called idols and, well, they are idolized by even younger girls…and manga reading boys and men.

Japan goes for cute…not beautiful. It strikes me as a bit weird. But, it’s Japan’s culture and that’s the rankings in the normal news spots show.

The hottest girl in Japan this week is a teenage actress, Shibuya Asuka.

I thought to do a series on Japan’s Hottest Girls like that on China’s Hottest … but I couldn’t find enough with their clothes ON to do it.

Shibuya Asuka is portraying a Tokyo University student in a popular TV drama.

Japan has about 3,000,000 crimes committed, or I should say reported each year. Many people do NOT report crimes because they know nothing will come of it and they don’t want to deal with Japan’s sometimes inept police force.

Besides, the arrest rate is a measely 20.8%. For more serious crimes, murder, armed robbery, and arson, the arrest rate is just under 50%.

What that means is that every other person gets away with the crime they commit.

I wonder how this compares to other countries.

52% of the crimes reported in Japan are burglary.

14.3% are violent crimes….about one every minute

3.8% are white collar crimes.

2.2% are felonies

1.7% are sex crimes….about one every 10 minutes.

Still, all in all, Japan is a pretty safe place. Barely 2% of the population are victims of a crime in one year in Japan.

I wonder if other countries can say that.
