Toyota’s Big China Plans

TOYOTA Motor Corp wants to sell as many cars in China this year as it did last year PLUS half again as many more….up 50%!

To attract the fuel-conscious Chinese Toyota has added new products to its big-picture.

Already having passed GM as the world's largest car maker, Toyota hopes to sell 450,000 cars in China this year.

Toyota has joint ventures with both the Guangzhou Automobile Group and the First Automotive Works.toyota.china.sales.jpg

The companies make Vios, Reiz, Camry, Crown sedans, the Prius hybrid car and the latest Corolla sedan.

Toyota is far behind General Motors and Volkswagen in China, both of which got an earlier start but…Toyota

is catching up.

Last year GM and VW sold more than two times that of Toyota's 308,000 vehicles.

But…Toyota is growing at an annual average of 25% internationally and so far, China is only a small proportion of those sales.

Toyota has a second plant being built in Guangzhou, the seventh for Toyota in China. When it is done, Toyota will have a production capacity of 800,000. And by this time next year…be selling to the max.

Do you think Toyota will catch GM and VW in China?
