Toyota Unveils 10th Generation Corolla
Toyota is planning a 2009 Corolla, the 10th generation of the subcompact sedan introduced in the U.S. market almost 40 years ago.
The Corolla was introduced in Japan in '66, and in the U.S. two years later.
The new Corolla will get 27mpg in the city and 35mpg on the highway…the non-hybrid type, of course.
Toyota says its numbers will be higher but don't look so because the EPA changed the rating methods.
Zero-60 in 8.1 secs.
Touch screen navigation will be an option.![]()
The car will have a lower, sportier profile to appeal to younger buyers, too.
The Corolla and Matrix vehicles represent about 18% of Toyota's annual volume.
Last year, 387,388 units were sold.
