Toyota Motor Corp and Honda Motor Co. are increasing their sales targests in Europe despite tougher emissions rules to fuel demand for subcompacts and hybrids.

Toyota wants to sell 5% more cars in 2008 – 1.3 million units.

Honda wants to boost sales by 40% by 2012 – 500,000 units.

Japanese cars have only about a 10% share of the European market.

Toyota's focus will be on promoting sales of its gasoline-electric-hybrid models.

Honda is counting on Russia and its neighboring markets to drive company sales.

The number of dealers in Russia will be increased from 40 to 60. Ukraine also got its first Honda sales company last year.

Just one in ten cars in Europe are made-in-Japan.

I didn't know that.

Is it because Europe has enough of their own car makers?
