Toyota Considers Tie-up With Ford

Toyota Motor Corp. president, Watanabe Katsuaki, says the company is willing to consider a tie-up with Ford Motor Co.

I can't imagine why. It won't be long before Toyota will gobble up Ford anyway.

Still, the president says a center on technological development is a good idea.

Toyota already provides components for gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles to Ford but does not want to limit its partnership with Ford to hybrids.

Ford is in a slump and is believed to be aiming to speed up the restructuring by enhancing relations with Toyota.ford.jpg

Toyota will come out the good guy in public relations as well by coming across as pitching in to work alongside an American icon.

The bottom line, however, is Ford needs Toyota and Toyota can only benefit from a relationship with Ford.

What do you think?
