Mega McDonalds

A fun way to compare the culturally less refined side of one country to another is to have a look at the local menu of McDonalds. Although the fries and diet Coke are the same everywhere, I’m pretty sure you the teriyaki burger and shrimp burger are relatively unique outside Japan.

But the real eye-opener for those that haven’t been to Japan lately is without a doubt the size of the menu…

The Mega Teriyaki and Mega Mac seem invented to satisfy the appetite of much larger species of human beings than the Japanese. Yet the Mega versions were unexpectedly popular and received an upgrade from “temporarily available” to a permanent menu item.

Hmm, anyone else getting hungry?
