Japan’s Oldest Business Having Trouble – Sex Industry
Police have clamped down in the sex industry in Japan. Good news, right?
Maybe not.
Since police have cracked down on the sex industry, many sex workers go undercover, er, underground.
The result is that the foundation for Sexual Health Medicine now
estimates that some 6.5 million Japanese have contracted at least one kind of STD.
Some are saying that one in five of all women in Japan have some kind of STD.
It is not that the girls sleep around, well they do or that the girls are easy, well they are that, too, but the boys will go anywhere and bring back anything and pass it on unknowingly.
Girls will not have themselves checked for fear of embarrassment and having it show up on their health records.
When the girls could work openly, they were checked and STDs were somewhat control. Now, that control is lost.
Hmmm…so, should the police ease up or go deeper undercover? Quite a conundrum.
What do you think?
