Japan’s Hottest Actress, Kikuchi Rinko, Misses Oscar

One of Japan’s hottest girls, Kikuchi Rinko, was nominated for an Oscar for her portrayal as a deaf-mute teenager in the movie “Babel.” Most Japanese are masters at being a deaf-mute when you talk to them or ask them to speak English.

Only a 26-year old Japanese girl could get away with playing a teenager. Well, maybe a Chinese or Korean could, too. Okay, almost any Asian country’s girl could do it…IF…it were westerners who were watching.

Anyway, Kikuchi Rinko did NOT get the Oscar but she was the first Japanese ever to be nominated for one….in her case, best supporting actress.

Her acting was said to be so convincing, that some of the other cast was really suprised to learn that she could speak.

Of course, a whole lot of people would be surprised if she were able to speak English in a Hollywood flick.

THAT is a challenge for ALL Japanese.
