Japanese Women Get the Short End
A government “White Paper on Gender Equality” took a look at women’s roles in society compared to men and women in 12 countries: United States, Sweden, Norway, Germany, France, Britain, the Philippines, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and South Korea.
Japanese women came up on the wrong end of the rankings in quite a few categories.
1. Just 12.5 of Japanese men helped out at home where both parents worked and they have pre-school children. Western Countries – 30-40%.
2. Japanese women made up 41.4% of the work force, on a par with other
countries.
3. Only 10.1% of Japanese women worked in mangement,
better only than Korea’s 7.8% and France’s 7.2% and far behind the Philippines 57.8% and the US at 42.5%.
4. Japan had just 9.4% representation in the national political assembly. Only Malaysia was worse wth must 8.9%. Sweden was tops with 47.3%.
Perhaps Japan’s Miss Universe, Riyo Mori, could skip AIDS and work to help bring about more equality for the better looking half of Japan’s society, no?
