Japan Launches Gay Rag

In this day and age of niche markets, everyone thinks they can make it if they can just find theirs.

The editors of “yes” think LGBTs are their market – lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders.

LGBTs are still not represented in Japan where homosexuality is still not accepted.

The magazine will feature info about LGBT lifestyles overseas – gay cable channels in the US, same-sex marriages in the U.K.

The managing editor of “yes” says it was a trip to San Francisco that prompted him to do his thing.

Thanks, neighbor! (I live in the South Bay, abt 30 miles from SF.)

It is estimated that the gay U.S. market is some $600 billion, with most of the market made up of well-educated people with lots of moolah.

Still, the Japanese rag is having trouble getting the automobile, apparel and cosmetic industries to advertise with them.

My bet is that it will be quite a while before a Toyota or Shiseido steps up to advertise with them at the risk of losing their already many many customers.

What do you think?
