Hello Kitty Joins Christian Dior, Donna Karan and Givenchy in Dressing Up Barbie
Hello Kitty is joining Christian Dior, Donna Karan and Givenchy to outfit Barbie says the Japanese toymaker, Sanrio.
Barbie will keep her golden locks but sport a ” short leather jacket and a shiny stone-bearing belt hanging loose on skinny black trousers.”
The jacket, belt, bag and necklace will bear the famous Hello Kitty image.
A Sanrio statement said, The new doll blends “Hello Kitty, now loved by girls and celebrities not only in Japan but also in the world, and Barbie, universally admired by women as a high-fashion avatar of girls’ dreams.”
Only 1,500 dolls will go on sale worldwide, starting in September, at 5,040 yen ($40) each.
Barbie joins the ranks of 50,000 different products in 60 nations that bare Hello Kitty’s image.
Hello Kitty was created in 1974.
