Guys & Gals in Japan – Gals Win!

When it comes to who spends the most on whom in Japan, the women win hands down – on the getting that is.

A women’s weekly conducted a survey of 200 women in their 30′s (hardly a large enough control group, but large enough to get an idea) to find out how much money was spent on them by the men in their lives – fathers, partners, boyfriends, colleagues and such, and how much they spent on the men in their lives.

The women estimated that on average, since they turned 18, men had spent 1,760,000 yen ($15,000+!) on them – dinner, movies, presents and such.

Women on the other hand spent just 630,000 ($5,200) in return.

It is all part of the mating ritual, of course. But the women win out when it comes to the balance sheet.

The weekly found that men would spend on average 300,000 ($2,700) just to get something started, with a woman.

Holy smokes…and if that didn’t work out, another $3 grand on the next try.

Not only do Japanese man have problems with social intercourse, in the non-sexual sense, they have problems spending way too much money screwing it up.

How much money would you spend trying to get a relationship started with a member of the opposite sex?
