Google.com search now shows answer highlights and events

Google has made many improvements in its search functionality. Now, Google results  load with some highlights and rich-snippet features. These features help in displaying relevant, formatted data on the search results pages and the same time help the user in satisfying the information need.

Rich snippets for events display short annotations that webmasters make to summarize the content on a web page, this helps the user to see it at a glance on Google’s search results. Improved snippets are available are: reviews and people. Recently, a new rich snippets format for events has been added. So, now when you  search for events, you’ll see how the new format lists them as search result snippets. These snippets include details like dates, locations and links directly to pages about those specific events.

Apart from event snippets, a new answer highlighting feature has been released, which helps you getting your answers more quickly by delivering the likely answer to your question in boldface type right in Google search results.
