On their ‘trip’ to Japan, the first thing the two ladies come upon …a shrine of sorts, dedicated to Hello Kitty.

Hello Kitty is iconic, symbolic, of Japan. For good or for bad, the mouthless Kitty speaks on behalf of the land of the Rising Sun.

Now, she will do it officially.

Hello Kitty has been named the Goodwill Ambassador to China by Japan’s Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Ministry.

It’s the first time a cartoon character has been appointed to the post.

One thing we can be sure of, Hello Kitty will not be putting her foot in her mouth.
